Caprio, nicest judge in the world, passes on

Judge Frank Caprio, known as “nicest judge in the world” died today, August 21, 2025.

He gained international fame for his compassionate and empathetic approach in the courtroom, which was widely shared on social media and his TV show “Caught in Providence.”

He passed away at the age of 88 after a long and courageous battle with pancreatic cancer. His death was confirmed by his family and announced through his Instagram account, with many tributes highlighting his warmth, kindness, and impact on justice and the community.

Rhode Island Governor, Dan McKee, paid tribute to his compassion and ordered flags to be flown at half-staff in his honor.
