ANA Mbari Series holds June 28

By Osita Mbonu

The June 2025 edition of ANA Mbari Series, a quarterly gathering of intellectuals, writers, and thought leaders, has been scheduled to hold June 28.

The ANA Mbari Series was adapted from the Mbari Club of the 60s. The Club, founded in Ibadan, Nigeria, in 1961, by a German editor and scholar, Ulli Beier, with the involvement of young writers from Nigeria and other West African countries, was a centre for cultural activities by African writers, artists and musicians.

Mbari, an Igbo concept related to “creation”, was suggested as the name by Chinua Achebe.

“In this June 2025 edition, with the theme, “Mbari through the Eyes of the Founding Fathers”, we will be going down memory lane to rediscover the aims and objectives of the founding fathers of the Mbari Club, the legacy of the Club and the impact the Mbari Series has had on creative writers and artists over the years,” ANA officials who are organising the event said.

As usual, venue of the event is Femi Osofisan Secretariat, Mamman Vatsa Writers’ Village, Mpape Road, Abuja. Time is 11am prompt.
