Oba Arowotawaya welcomes Erinmo’s Guinness World Record holder

By Chris Onuoha

His Royal Majesty, Oba Michael Odunayo Ajayi, Arowotawaya II, the Elerinmo of Erinmo-Ijesa in Osun State, has celebrated Abidemi Praise Omopariola, an Erinmo indigene who set a Guinness World Record with a 90-hour marathon portrait painting in the United Kingdom.

The monarch received the new title holder at his palace, where the community erupted in joy over her feat that placed Erinmo and Osun State on the global map. Chiefs, clergy, students from Erinmo Grammar School, and the Omopariola family joined the festive gathering.

“I had the distinct honour of receiving our Guinness World Record holder, who accomplished an extraordinary 90 hours of continuous portrait drawing,” Oba Arowotawaya II said.

“As a proud indigene of Erinmo Land now based in the UK, her achievement brings great pride and global recognition to our community. This inspiring moment connected excellence, heritage, and the aspirations of our youth,” he added.

Abidemi shared her journey to success, opening up about overcoming trauma, self-doubt, and life’s hurdles. She stressed resilience, mental strength, focus, and urged students to courageously pursue their talents and passions.

Oba Elerinmo also noted that her story proves greatness can emerge from a small community like Erinmo when talent meets discipline and perseverance.

After the royal reception, Oba Arowotawaya escorted Abidemi to the palace of the Ooni of Ife, His Imperial Majesty Arole Oodua Ooni Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi, Ojaja II, who received her and offered royal blessings.

“This historic encounter affirms her achievement’s significance,” Oba Elerinmo noted.

He praised her for making Erinmo proud and charged Osun State and Nigerian youth to embrace their gifts with dedication, determination, consistency, and commitment.

“Today’s event reminds us that with vision, courage, and hard work, Erinmo youth can excel on the world stage,” Oba Arowotawaya concluded.
