The skyline and atmosphere of Jabi Lake may soon take on a new identity as Akida Hills moves forward with plans to develop a landmark waterfront destination featuring leisure attractions, entertainment experiences, and public recreation facilities.
According to the company, the development will feature what is being described as West Africa’s first dancing musical fountain, alongside a variety of waterfront leisure attractions aimed at enhancing tourism and recreation in the Federal Capital Territory.
The project forms part of the ongoing transformation of the Jabi Lake waterfront into a premier lifestyle and tourism hub. Akida Hills has been allocated a 3.36-hectare site within the larger waterfront district, where it plans to deliver a phased mix of recreational, entertainment, and public leisure facilities.
Speaking on the development, Akida Hills Founder, Kayode Bamisile, said the project is expected to contribute to economic growth, job creation, and the expansion of Nigeria’s tourism sector. He noted that the company aims to position Jabi Lake as a world-class waterfront destination capable of attracting residents, tourists, and investors throughout the year.
The first phase of the development will feature a blend of leisure, recreation, and entertainment offerings, including dining experiences, water-based activities, structured programming, and seasonal events. A key highlight of the project will be a dancing musical fountain, which Akida Hills says will be the first of its kind in West Africa.
Designed as a central landmark within the waterfront experience, the dancing musical fountain will combine choreographed water displays, synchronized lighting, and music performances to create an evening attraction for visitors. Akida Hills said the completed development is expected to serve as a major centre for tourism, recreation, entertainment, and community engagement, further strengthening Abuja’s position as a leading leisure and lifestyle destination in Nigeria.
For residents and visitors, the transformation of the Jabi Lake waterfront represents more than a new attraction—it signals a broader vision for creating vibrant public spaces that blend recreation, culture, and community life.
