A new twist has emerged in the legal battle involving P-Square brothers Peter and Jude Okoye, after Peter reportedly admitted in court that his elder brother sent him six years of the group’s royalty records just six days after he requested them.
During cross-examination at the Federal High Court in Lagos, Peter acknowledged that his request was dated October 16, 2022, while the records were sent on October 22. He was also unable to produce a message or email showing that he had made an earlier request.
Peter further told the court that he received about $800,000 in SACEM royalties from 10 P-Square songs, which he said belonged to him and Paul as the artistes. He acknowledged that Jude had signed the SACEM agreement “for the team” and that he had previously paid Jude a quarter of his SACEM share.
Despite this, Peter maintained that Jude was not a member of P-Square, although Jude directed some of the group’s music videos.
Jude Okoye and Northside Music Limited are facing a seven-count EFCC case over alleged fraud involving ₦1.3 billion and $1 million. Jude has pleaded not guilty.
The case has been adjourned to December 8 and 9, 2026.
