Who’s Super Falcons’ Ashleigh Plumptre?

Ashleigh Plumptre is a professional footballer born on May 8, 1998, in Leicester, England. She plays as a centre-back for Saudi Premier League club Al-Ittihad and the Nigeria women’s national team, known as the Super Falcons.

Originally, she represented England at youth levels (U-15 to U-23) but switched allegiance to Nigeria, debuting for the senior Nigeria team in February 2022.

She played for Nigeria at the 2023 Women’s World Cup and is a key defender for the national team, noted for her leadership and defensive skills.

Her career includes spells at Notts County, LA Galaxy OC, Leicester City (notably helping them win the FA Women’s Championship in 2020/21), and now Al-Ittihad in Saudi Arabia, making her a trailblazer in Middle Eastern women’s football.

Ashleigh has Nigerian heritage through her father, which motivated her to represent Nigeria internationally.

Off the pitch, she holds a degree in human biology from the University of Southern California and has been recognized for balancing academic excellence with her football career. She is one of Nigeria’s highest-paid female footballers, reflecting her success and influence both on and off the field.
