Sokoto State is stepping up its fight against banditry with a fresh N1.59 billion investment in security mobility.
The state government has approved the purchase of 30 Toyota Hilux vehicles to strengthen the movement, rapid response and operational capacity of security agencies across communities facing persistent threats.
The approval, reached during the eighth regular meeting of the Sokoto State Executive Council, comes on the heels of earlier security investments, including more than 200 patrol vehicles and 62 armoured vehicles and other security equipment reportedly worth over N27 billion.
Beyond providing vehicles, the government has also approved a Sokoto State Banditry Special Prohibition Bill, 2026, aimed at strengthening the legal framework for tackling armed banditry.
Governor Ahmed Aliyu said the administration would sustain its security operations until displaced residents can safely return to their ancestral communities.
The latest approvals highlight the state government’s broader push to combine security operations with infrastructure, education and institutional development.
