A disturbing case involving the alleged sexual abuse of a seven-year-old girl has sparked outrage in Nigeria after an Onitsha-based woman was reportedly arrested over videos allegedly showing her abusing her daughter during livestreams.
The woman, identified in reports as Anulike Nwokike, popularly known as Freaky Goddess, is alleged to have sexually abused the child while broadcasting the acts online in exchange for livestream gifts.
Following her reported arrest, Nwokike and her husband allegedly claimed that the videos were AI-generated, disputing the authenticity of the footage.
Reports indicate that the woman, her husband and the children have been taken into custody as authorities investigate the allegations.
There are also reports suggesting that the seven-year-old may not be the only child potentially affected, raising concerns about the possibility of further victims.
The case has renewed attention on the dangers of online exploitation of children and the growing challenge authorities face in distinguishing genuine abuse material from digitally manipulated or AI-generated content.
As investigations continue, child-protection advocates are expected to closely monitor the case, with the welfare and safety of the children remaining the immediate concern.
